Newport County is proud to be supporting Unite For Access, a celebration of access and inclusion for disabled sports fans, at Saturday’s home fixture against Colchester United at Rodney Parade.
The campaign, led by Level Playing Field, will bring sporting communities across England and Wales together on matchdays between February 28 and March 15, highlighting the importance of accessible and inclusive matchday experiences for disabled supporters.
There are more than 16 million disabled people in the UK, representing almost a quarter of the population and making them the largest minority group.
Attending live sport is hugely important to many disabled supporters and at Rodney Parade we believe everyone should be able to enjoy matchdays with the Exiles. However, structural and societal barriers can still prevent some fans from having that experience.
Everyone has a role to play in creating an inclusive environment. The 2025 Level Playing Field Annual Fan Survey found that ‘attitudes of others’ is the second most common barrier faced by disabled supporters. As a club, we want to help drive positive change and ensure Rodney Parade is a welcoming place for everyone.
We also recognise that ‘physical access’ remains the most common barrier for disabled fans attending live sport. Newport County is committed to continuing to improve accessibility at Rodney Parade and we welcome feedback from supporters as we work to make further improvements.
Disability can be a complex topic, which is why campaigns like Unite For Access are so important. We encourage both disabled and non-disabled supporters to engage with the campaign and help ensure that access and inclusion remain at the heart of everything we do as a football club.
Supporters attending Saturday’s match will see the campaign highlighted around the ground as we proudly stand alongside clubs across the country in promoting inclusion in football.
We ask all supporters to join us and:
