Newport County's popular kitman David Pipe is an Amber Angel in the eyes of seven-year-old Exiles fan Jaxson writes Anthony Rees.
The former Port skipper, now 42, and rated as one of British football's most fierce competitors during his 18 seasons and 525 League games as a pro has a heart of gold - showering local lad Jaxson with love and encouragement since learning about his "life-threatening" illness last year.
Locally-born Jaxon has been a Newport fanatic since birth and his upturn in health is being attributed to former Wales international Pipe's influence, according to mum and dad, Laura Moffat and Dan Colsey.
Reflected Jaxon's parents, "Our son has just seen his seventh birthday - and we are thrilled to be celebrating it !
"Jaxon has been a devoted fan of the football club for a long time. This bond toward County has grown much stronger since his recovery from a life-threatening illness this time last year.
"Our heartfelt thanks is to Pipey [David Pipe]. He is Jaxon's favourite person. but we also want to commend the Newport players for all they have done too."
