Following an impressive 2-0 victory over Swindon Town, Tan Nyakuhwa reflected on his first start for Newport County, which saw him score his first goal for the club.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s my first start for Newport and I just wanted to bite it and try and get a goal.
“Obviously, I remember last season I came here and had a chance, so I just came here thinking about that and I wanted to get a goal. I was lucky enough to do it.”
Tan also played a key role in the opening goal, winning possession high up the pitch.
“It’s always good. I just want to play my part in helping the team. The team is the main thing.
“I think the staff gives us that confidence inside, gives us all the information we need, and we try and implement it on the pitch. Today we done that.”
With a Wales Under-21 call-up now awaiting him, Tan is looking forward to representing his country.
“I’m excited and looking forward to it. It’s a moment to represent the country, and I’m going to enjoy that and hopefully come back with some performance and kick on.”
