As we travel away to Barnet this weekend, let’s look back and see which players have shared the shirt between Newport County and The Bees...

Anthony Hartigan

Anthony Hartigan currently plays for Barnet, joining the club in 2023. However, Hartigan also had a brief stint at The Exiles before his time at the Greater London side.

Hartigan joined County from his parent club AFC Wimbledon in January 2021, where he spent the rest of the season on-loan. He featured 14 times for Newport, and was part of all three 2020-21 League Two play-off matches, including playing for 51 minutes in the final against Morecambe.

After returning to Wimbledon, he was transferred to Mansfield, then was promptly sent on-loan to Barnet. In his debut season at the club, the 26-year-old would feature 48 times as well as scoring three goals, which would earn him a permanent transfer. The midfielder helped Barnet seal promotion to League Two in 2024-25, also garnering the captain's armband.

Ryan Burge

After an academy upbringing at Birmingham City, playing alongside the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Ryan Burge ended up wearing both the amber and the orange in his playing days.

Burge only spent the first half of the season at Barnet during the 2008-09 season before joining Japanese outfit Machida Zelvia on a free that January. He made one appearance in that time, partly due to illness struggles: a 4-0 loss against Notts County.

However, later in his career, Burge would find himself back in England, playing for Port Vale until he was without a club. County picked him up on a free transfer, and throughout the 2013-14 season the midfielder featured 17 times. He would face a calf injury early in the season, but contributed with two goals and two assists.

Connor Dymond

An academy product of Crystal Palace, Connor Dymond's professional journey began in the EFL with both clubs.

Dymond first joined The Bees on loan from Palace in March 2014, and stayed there for the remainder of the season. The Englishman featured six times for Barnet in the National League, and managed to get a goal against Cambridge United in a 1-1 draw.

Two years later, he joined The Exiles for just over a month on-loan, and would feature in a Third Round FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers, plus a 1-0 league victory against York City.

His career eventually took him to the likes of Bromley, Welling United - on two separate occasions - and, most recently, VCD Athletic in the Isthmian Leagues.
