Tom Davies ruled out for remainder of 2024-25 season

Head coach Nelson Jardim has confirmed that defender Tom Davies will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season through injury.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Exiles on a permanent deal from Cardiff City earlier in the January transfer window, has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Davies made his debut as a substitute against Port Vale on January 18 before earning back-to-back starts against Swindon Town and Salford City.

However, his involvement was cut short when he limped off against the Ammies in midweek.

“Tom Davies has unfortunately had an injury that will keep him out maybe until the end of the season,” confirmed Jardim in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s a big disappointment for us, we had a lot of faith in him. It’s unfortunate for a young boy of 21, he did well when he played and would have had a good chance in the next two or three months to develop.

“He will just have to now be focused and make sure when he comes back, he comes back stronger.”

Midfielder Kai Whitmore was another casualty from Tuesday night’s draw at Salford, having been forced off with an eye injury.

Asked about his fitness, Jardim provided a more positive update: “Kai is looking better than first thought. His eye is settling and hopefully he will be okay.

“We’ll continue to assess him and his availability for tomorrow.”
