Newport County are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Nik Tzanev has officially joined up with the squad for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 Sky Bet League Two campaign.
The 28-year-old arrives at Rodney Parade after recently completing international duty with New Zealand, as the All Whites faced Ukraine and the Ivory Coast in Toronto.
Tzanev moved from his native New Zealand to England in 2006 at the age of nine and came through the academy ranks at Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Brentford before joining AFC Wimbledon in 2017 where he made 126 senior appearances as a fans’ favourite.
He signed a one-year contract with League One Northampton in 2024 and made 23 appearances last season.

Manager David Hughes said “We’re delighted to have Nik with us for the upcoming season. He comes to us with lots of experience domestically and on the international stage. We think he will be an excellent fit for us, and we’re excited to see him integrate with the squad.”
