Newport County is seeking to appoint a Head of Safeguarding to lead and develop the club’s safeguarding programme and ensure the highest standards of protection for Academy players, children, young people and adults at risk.
This is a full-time role providing strategic leadership and operational management of safeguarding across the club, with responsibility for embedding a strong, proactive and child-centred safeguarding culture.
The successful candidate will lead the club’s approach to safeguarding, provide advice and support to staff and volunteers, and act as a central point of contact for players, parents, colleagues and external agencies.
The role will also involve managing safeguarding referrals and working closely with key organisations including the EFL, Football Association, Football Association of Wales, Local Authority Designated Officers, PGAAC and the NSPCC.
The Head of Safeguarding will support the development and implementation of the club’s safeguarding strategy while ensuring compliance with relevant EFL, FA, PGAAC and Barnardo’s audit requirements. The role will also support Newport County’s equality, diversity and inclusion objectives in line with the EFL Code of Practice.
Building positive relationships will be central to the role, with the successful candidate working closely with Board members, colleagues, parents and carers, players and external partners.
A key part of the position will be ensuring that the voices of children, young people and adults at risk are heard, with their experiences and views helping to inform safeguarding practice and club decision-making.
