Tom Davies joined Newport County in January 2025, signing from Cardiff City on an eighteen-month contract to strengthen County's defensive options. The versatile defender is capable of operating in both defensive and midfield roles, combining technical quality with tactical intelligence and positional flexibility.

Born on November 11, 2003 in Cardiff, Wales, Davies rose through the ranks at Cardiff City's academy from the age of 14 before making his professional debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Sutton United in August 2021. During the 2023-24 season, he gained valuable first-team experience on loan at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

Davies made his Newport County debut on January 18, 2025, coming on as a second-half substitute against Port Vale. He went on to make four League Two appearances during the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

The 2025-26 campaign saw Davies establish himself as an important member of the Newport County squad. He made 33 League Two appearances, including 25 starts, playing 2,180 minutes and registering one assist. Across all competitions, he made 36 appearances and scored one goal.

That goal came in memorable fashion against his former club Cardiff City on October 7, 2025. Davies headed home the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Cardiff City Stadium in the Vertu Trophy, helping County secure a memorable win over their Welsh rivals. The goal was subsequently shortlisted for Newport County's 2025-26 Goal of the Season award.

At international level, Davies has represented Wales across youth levels, beginning with the under-18s before progressing to the under-21s. He received a call-up to the Wales under-21 squad in October 2023 for a European Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic.

With his academy development, EFL experience, versatility and continued progression, Davies remains an important member of the Newport County squad heading into the 2026-27 season.
