Tom Davies joined Newport County in January 2025, signing from Cardiff City on an eighteen-month contract to strengthen county's defensive options for the remainder of the season. At just 21 years of age, he brings a blend of technical quality, tactical intelligence and positional versatility, capable of performing effectively both in defensive and midfield roles.
Born on 11 November 2003 in Cardiff, Wales, Davies rose through the ranks at Cardiff City’s academy from age 14 and made his professional debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Sutton United in August 2021. During the 2023–24 season he gained first-team experience on loan at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
Since making his Newport debut on 18 January 2025 as a second-half substitute in a League Two fixture against Port Vale, Davies has featured regularly for the Exiles. By August 23, 2025, he had made nine league appearances for the club.
On the international stage Davies has represented Wales across youth levels, beginning with the U19s and progressing to the U21s. He received a call-up to the Wales U21 squad in October 2023 for a European Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic.
With solid academy training, senior match experience, and recognition at national youth level, Tom Davies is well positioned to develop into a key squad member across multiple formations.
