Riley Lonergan is a Welsh midfielder who joined Newport County's academy at under-16 level. Born on 23 December 2006 in Newport, Wales, Lonergan quickly established a strong relationship with Newport County Academy Manager, Luke Hussey. He has been a standout talent in the club’s Under-18s squad, known for his technical brilliance and work rate.

To continue his development, Lonergan has been loaned to Cardiff Metropolitan University FC until 12 January 2026. This move offers him valuable experience in the Cymru Premier, allowing him to gain more exposure to senior football. He had consistently featured in first-team pre-season preparations and will now have the opportunity to further his growth at Cardiff Met.
