Player Biography

Jordan Wright joined Newport County in June 2025, bringing a wealth of experience from across the English Football League. Standing at 1.91 metres (6'3"), the 26-year-old goalkeeper is known for his commanding presence in the penalty area and his ability to make crucial saves under pressure.

Born on 27th February 1999 in Stoke-on-Trent, Wright began his career with Nottingham Forest, progressing through the youth ranks. He gained senior experience with several loan moves across non-league, including spells at Alfreton Town, Alloa Athletic, and Hereford. 

In January 2022, Wright signed permanently for Lincoln City, where he made his senior debut in March 2022. His performances impressed, and he was nominated for the EFL Cup Player of the Round in September 2022, following his display against Barrow, where he saved three penalties in a shootout and denied several attempts during the game. 

In June 2024, Wright joined Grimsby Town on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee. He made 37 appearances for the club before moving to Newport County in June 2025. 

With his extensive experience in English football, Wright is poised to make a significant impact at Newport County, combining his shot-stopping ability with leadership and composure to strengthen the team's defensive line.
