Player Biography

Lee Jenkins joined Newport County in June 2025, signing from Haverfordwest County after three impressive seasons in the Cymru Premier. At just 23 years old, he arrives with a reputation for aerial command, defensive solidity and a knack for contributing in both boxes.

Born on 30 August 2001 in Aberaeron, Wales, Jenkins began his senior career at Aberystwyth Town, featuring prominently in the Cymru Premier from the age of 16 and making over 70 appearances by the time he was 20. He then moved to Haverfordwest County in 2022, where he made more than 100 appearances in all competitions. His consistent performances earned him selection in the Cymru Premier Team of the Season and recognition at national level with Wales C.

One of his standout moments came in July 2023, when he scored a dramatic 89th-minute equaliser in a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against KF Shkëndija. The goal made him the first Welsh player to score in European competition for Haverfordwest and set up a penalty shoot-out victory.

Jenkins made his Newport County debut on 29 July 2025 in the EFL Cup preliminary round win over Barnet. In his first weeks at Rodney Parade he was described by manager David Hughes as “defensively solid, athletic and works the channels really well,” underlining the expectation that he will become an important figure in the backline.

With strong foundations in Welsh football, international recognition at Wales C level and valuable European experience, Lee Jenkins is determined to establish himself in League Two and make a lasting impact for Newport County.
