Welsh attacking midfielder Ben Lloyd joined Newport County on loan from Swansea City in July 2025, with the deal later extended until the end of the 2025–26 season.
Born on 14 March 2005, Lloyd is a creative and technically gifted forward-thinking midfielder who operates primarily in the number 10 role. A product of the Swansea City academy, he joined the club at the age of 12 and progressed through the under-18, under-21 and under-23 ranks before breaking into the senior set-up.
He was first named in a Swansea City first-team matchday squad in August 2021 and signed his first professional contract in June 2022, later extending his deal through to June 2026. Lloyd made his professional debut on Boxing Day 2024 in a Championship victory over Queens Park Rangers and added further senior experience later that season.
Lloyd made his Newport County debut in the EFL Cup victory over Barnet in July 2025 and quickly showcased his attacking intent and eye for goal. He netted his first goal for the Exiles in an EFL Trophy fixture against Arsenal Under-21s in September 2025.
A Wales Under-21 international, Lloyd has represented his country at multiple youth levels. Known for his intelligence in the final third, movement between the lines and willingness to work hard off the ball, he adds creativity and energy to County’s attacking options.
