Forward Tanatswa Nyakuhwa joined Newport County on a season-long loan from Cardiff City on 1 September 2026, returning to the club on deadline day for a second spell.

Born on 17 September 2005 and raised in Newport, Nyakuhwa returns to his hometown club having grown up attending matches at Rodney Parade, including memorable FA Cup ties against higher-ranked opposition. A product of the Cardiff City academy, he joined the Bluebirds at the age of seven and progressed through the under-18 and under-21 ranks before signing his first professional contract in July 2024.

Nyakuhwa initially joined Newport County on loan in January 2026 for the remainder of the 2025–26 season. However, his first spell at the club was cut short due to injury. During his time with the Exiles, he made his debut against Gillingham in Sky Bet League Two on 17 January 2026.

A pacey and direct forward capable of stretching defences, Nyakuhwa adds youthful energy and attacking intent to County’s frontline.

Internationally, Nyakuhwa has represented Wales at under-21 level and is also eligible to play for Zimbabwe through his heritage.
