Player Biography

Forward Tanatswa Nyakuhwa joined Newport County on loan from Cardiff City in January 2026 for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.

Born on 17 September 2005 and raised in Newport, Nyakuhwa returns to his hometown club having grown up attending matches at Rodney Parade, including memorable FA Cup ties against higher-ranked opposition. A product of the Cardiff City academy, he joined the Bluebirds at the age of seven and progressed through the under-18 and under-21 ranks before signing his first professional contract in July 2024.

Nyakuhwa made his senior Cardiff City debut in May 2025, coming on as a second-half substitute in an EFL Championship fixture against Norwich City. During the 2025–26 campaign, he featured nine times for the first team, including two starts in the EFL Trophy, continuing his development at senior level.

He completed a loan move to Newport County on 14 January 2026 and made his Exiles debut three days later against Gillingham in Sky Bet League Two.

A pacey and direct forward capable of stretching defences, Nyakuhwa adds youthful energy and attacking intent to County’s frontline.

Internationally, Nyakuhwa has represented Wales at under-21 level and is also eligible to play for Zimbabwe through his heritage.
