Yahya Bamba joined Newport County in June 2026, signing permanently from Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The versatile forward arrives at Rodney Parade with experience across the National League and National League South, bringing pace, direct running and the ability to operate across the front three.
Born on April 27, 1999, Bamba began his senior career in the non-league game, representing Sevenoaks Town and Cray Wanderers before joining Eastbourne Borough in 2024. He made 51 appearances and scored 11 goals during his time with Eastbourne, earning a move to Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2025.
Bamba made his Forest Green debut during the 2025-26 season and featured regularly in the National League. He made 14 league appearances, including six starts, scoring once and playing 531 minutes. He also received two yellow cards.
In January 2026, Bamba joined Brackley Town on loan, making two substitute appearances before returning to Forest Green the following month.
The forward's pace and direct style were a key part of what attracted Newport County, with Bamba describing himself as a player who enjoys one-on-one situations, possesses plenty of pace and wants to get supporters off their seats. He is capable of operating anywhere across the front three, providing Newport County with another option in attack.
Bamba arrives at Rodney Parade at the age of 27 with the opportunity to make his EFL debut and take the next step in his career. His combination of pace, directness and versatility gives Newport County an additional attacking threat for the 2026-27 season.
