Kyle Cameron returned to Newport County in June 2026, rejoining the club on a permanent basis after helping Bromley secure promotion to League One as League Two champions during the 2025-26 season. The experienced defender originally spent time at Rodney Parade as a teenager and now returns with more than 250 senior appearances to his name.
Born on January 15, 1997 in Hexham, Cameron began his career with Newcastle United, joining the club's academy at the age of nine. He progressed through the youth system before gaining his first senior experience on loan with Workington and York City. During the 2015-16 season, he made 18 appearances for York City before joining Newport County on loan later that year.
Cameron made eight appearances for Newport County during his first spell at the club in the 2016-17 season, with his time cut short by injury. He returned to Newcastle United before spending a further loan spell with Queen of the South in Scotland.
In 2018, Cameron joined Torquay United on a permanent basis. He made more than 100 appearances for the club and helped them win the National League South title during the 2018-19 season.
Cameron moved to Notts County in 2021 and quickly established himself as an important member of the side. He made more than 100 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists. He also captained Notts County during their promotion-winning 2022-23 campaign, when they returned to the English Football League as National League champions.
The left-footed defender spent the first half of the 2024-25 season on loan with Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone before joining Barrow on loan for the second half of the campaign, where he made 17 appearances and scored once.
Cameron joined Bromley in June 2025 and played an important role during the club's historic 2025-26 campaign. He made 18 League Two appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist as Bromley won the League Two title and secured promotion to League One. His season also included a full 90-minute appearance in Bromley's 2-1 victory over Newport County on New Year's Day.
Now 29, Cameron returns to Rodney Parade with significant EFL experience and a track record of leadership, having captained sides to promotion at both Notts County and Bromley. Comfortable at centre-back and capable of operating at left-back, his experience and versatility will provide valuable defensive options for Newport County during the 2026-27 season.
At international level, Cameron represented both England and Scotland during his youth career before representing Scotland at under-17, under-19 and under-21 level. He made three appearances for the Scotland under-21s.
