Goalkeeper Jake Turner joined Newport County on a free transfer in August 2026 following his departure from League Two side Gillingham.

Born on 25 February 1999 in Wilmslow, Turner began his career with Bolton Wanderers, where he progressed through the academy and represented England at under-18 and under-19 level. He later joined Newcastle United in 2019 and gained valuable senior experience through loan spells with Darlington, Morecambe and Colchester United.

Turner joined Gillingham in the summer of 2022 following his release by Newcastle United. He spent four seasons at Priestfield, making more than 80 appearances across all competitions and establishing himself as a regular goalkeeper for the Gills.

During his time with Gillingham, Turner also spent part of the 2024–25 season on loan with National League side Dagenham & Redbridge, where he made seven appearances.

A goalkeeper with extensive experience across the EFL and National League, Turner brings a strong understanding of League Two to Rodney Parade and adds further competition and experience to County's goalkeeping department.
