Player Biography

Midfielder Matt Dibley-Dias joined Newport County late in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from Premier League side Fulham.

Born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, Dibley-Dias joined Fulham’s academy from Brentford at the age of 14 and progressed through the club’s youth setup. He signed his first professional contract in 2021 and was named Fulham’s Johnny Haynes Academy Player of the Year for the 2022–23 season. He has also been included in a number of first-team matchday squads.

Dibley-Dias has previous senior loan experience with Northampton Town, Chesterfield and Braintree Town. He joined Northampton in 2024 before moving to Chesterfield in the summer of 2025. Following the early conclusion of that spell, he joined Braintree Town for the second half of the 2025–26 campaign.

His move to Newport also sees him reunite with County head coach Hayden Mullins, who previously worked with Dibley-Dias during his time in charge of Fulham’s Under-21 side. Dibley-Dias made 31 appearances under Mullins across two seasons and was part of the Fulham side that won the Premier League Cup in 2023–24.

A technically gifted and energetic midfielder, Dibley-Dias is capable of covering ground across the pitch and adds further depth and experience to County’s midfield.
