Forward Michael Adu-Poku joined Newport County on a season-long loan from Watford on deadline day, 1 September 2026.

Adu-Poku came through Watford’s academy and made his first-team debut for the Hornets during the 2022–23 season. He has since gained valuable senior experience through a number of loan spells, including with Maidstone United, Solihull Moors, Rochdale, Barrow and Wealdstone.

During the 2024–25 campaign, Adu-Poku spent time with Solihull Moors and Rochdale, before featuring for Barrow and Wealdstone during the following season. He made 13 appearances for Wealdstone in the National League and also featured four times for Barrow.

Adu-Poku also featured for Watford during the opening stages of the 2026–27 season, appearing in the Championship and starting their Carabao Cup tie against Peterborough United before completing his move to Newport County.

His move to Newport sees him work under County head coach Hayden Mullins, who has helped to provide him with confidence and encouragement during his early time at the club.

A direct and energetic forward capable of operating from wide areas, Adu-Poku possesses pace and attacking ability, providing County with another option in the final third.
