Michael Spellman joined Newport County in July 2024 on a two-year contract, bringing pace, creativity, and a sharp eye for goal to the team’s attacking options.

Born on 21 September 2002 in England, Spellman began his football journey at the Park View Academy before showcasing his goalscoring talent with Chester-le-Street United, where he netted 19 goals in 23 appearances, including 14 in the Wearside League. After a trial with Livingston in 2021, Spellman found his way to Sunderland, initially on a non-contract basis in March 2022 before earning a permanent deal that summer.

During his time at Sunderland, Spellman gained valuable experience through loan spells at Whitby Town and Blyth Spartans, where he further developed his skills and contributed to the teams' attacking play. In 2024, he made the move to Newport County, eager to make an impact in EFL League Two.

Known for his speed, dribbling ability, and versatility in the attacking third, Spellman adds depth and dynamism to Newport County's squad. His commitment to improving and his desire to contribute to the team's success make him a valuable asset for the Exiles.
