Academy win 6-0 against RTB Ebbw Vale
It was a great night all round at Eugene Cross Park last night when Newport County AFC Youth squad travelled to play RTB Ebbw Vale in aid of a fund set up to ensure Joe Hendy receives cancer treatment.Over £500 was raised on the night that also saw the long awaited return of Ben Coles who suffered a horrific injury 3 years ago in a match against Croesyceiliog AFC.
County, in front of a decent crowd at Eugene Cross Park, ran out 6-0 winners showing lots of fluidity in their passing movements cutting Ebbw Vale under 19s open on several occasions with sharp quick movements and technically good passing leading to Dan Raymond opening the scoring with low drive into the bottom corner. This was added to by a Ben Brooks brace and a powerful header by Sam James before Ben Coles returning after a 3 year absence from an horrendous injury suffered in the Gwent Senior Cup came on to a great reception and immediately made an impact with a goal direct from a free kick and then moments added another from the spot. Ben was over the moon to make his return and score. Academy Manager Glyn Jones added "it was an excellent night for a Ebbw vale and the charity that raised money for on the night and to see ben make his return"
