Chris Gadsby takes a look at our League Two opponents for the 2015/16 season......
Full Name:Luton Town Football Club
Nickname: The Hatters
Founded: 1885
Ground: Kenilworth Road (Capacity 10,226)
Record against County: Played 9, Won 4, Drawn 3, Lost 2, Goals For 16, Goals Against 12
Last Season: 8th – Luton’s first season back in the football league after their 101 point Conference winning season in 2014, was very successful. Finishing just outside the playoff places with 68 points they exceeded all expectations and were top of the table for two matches just before Christmas and reached the third round of the FA Cup. They were dominant at home winning 13 of their 23 matches, including a 3-0 victory over County, but they dropped too many points away from home which ultimately prevented them from achieving playoff status.
Key Player: Luton have made a lot of signings over the summer already including ex-Derby defender Mark O’Brien who spent last season on loan at Motherwell and has made appearances for the Republic of Ireland at youth level.
Fixtures: November 28th (H) April 23rd (A)
After their brilliant season last year on their return to the football league, Luton have already begun to strengthen over the summer. It was only eight seasons ago that they were in the Championship before hitting financial difficulties and points deductions left them tumbling down to the Conference. Since that point though they have grown continually and with an arguably stronger squad this year than last, a playoff place is highly likely and they may well be pushing for the top three once again.Prediction:
