Braybrooke Strike Included in December Goal of the Month Shortlist

Braybrooke

The nominations for the December Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month award have been announced, with former Newport County midfielder Sammy Braybrooke among those shortlisted.

Braybrooke’s strike came during our fixture away at Colchester United on 20 December. After intercepting a pass ten yards inside his own half, he opted for the spectacular, lifting a perfectly weighted 55-yard effort over the goalkeeper and into the net.

The full list of December nominees is as follows:

Ethon Archer (Swindon Town v Cheltenham Town – 9 December)
Archer reacted quickest after a Cheltenham free-kick was partially cleared, striking a perfectly timed half-volley that found the corner.

Benn Ward (Harrogate Town v Accrington Stanley – 9 December)
Ward stepped onto the ball on the edge of the area and, with minimal back-lift, curled a powerful effort into the far top corner.

Sammy Braybrooke (Colchester United v Newport County – 20 December)
Braybrooke intercepted possession deep inside his own half before executing a remarkable long-range lob that dipped under the crossbar.

Jack Sparkes (Bristol Rovers v Bromley – 26 December)
Sparkes cut inside from a tight angle and unleashed a rising left-footed strike into the far corner.

Supporters can vote for their favourite goal via EFL.com until 5pm on Monday 19 January.

Fan votes will be combined with the selections of a judging panel, which includes Sky Sports EFL experts Don Goodman and David Prutton, to determine the winner.
