At the start of September, County in the Community were delighted to welcome five students to their university programme in partnership with the University of South Wales and EFL in the Community.
The students are currently enrolled on a degree in Sports Coaching and Development, delivered through the club’s charity. The programme provides a unique combination of academic study and practical, hands-on experience, allowing students to complete higher education modules while developing their coaching skills in a real-world sport environment.
As part of their course, the students also have the opportunity to work towards the FAW C Licence in football coaching, enhancing their qualifications and preparing them for careers in sport.
Alongside their studies, the students are encouraged to volunteer across a wide range of initiatives delivered by County in the Community. This gives them invaluable experience, while also enabling them to contribute to positive change in the local community through sport.
Mark O’Brien, Newport County and County in the Community ambassador, said: “We are proud to support the next generation of coaches. The programme not only develops academic and coaching skills, but also allows our students to make a real difference in the community. We look forward to seeing the impact they will have over the coming months.”
This partnership highlights County in the Community’s ongoing commitment to education, community engagement and the development of future leaders in sport.
