Newport County have been drawn in Southern Section Group E of the 2026-27 EFL Trophy alongside Plymouth Argyle, Swindon Town and Crystal Palace Under-21s.
The group stage draw has been confirmed by the EFL, with 16 invited Premier League academy sides joining clubs from Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two in this season’s competition.
Crystal Palace Under-21s complete Newport County's group, with fixture details to be confirmed following the EFL fixture release. Group stage matches are scheduled to begin in early September.

Competition Format
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stages, with fixtures remaining regionalised until the quarter-final stage.
Matches level after 90 minutes will be decided by penalty shootouts up to and including the semi-final stage. In the final, extra time will be played if required, followed by penalties if necessary.
