Newport County and Calum Best will come together as the club confirms the media personality and charity advocate as a special guest for its upcoming Hall of Fame event at the Celtic Manor Resort.
The event, taking place on Sunday, May 3, will celebrate past and present Newport County legends, with more than 350 guests expected to attend an evening dedicated to the club’s rich history.
Calum Best, son of football icon George Best, will feature as a guest speaker during an exclusive Q&A session. With a deep connection to the game through his father’s legacy, Calum has continued to promote football’s wider impact both on and off the pitch.
He recently curated the international exhibition George Best: 20 Years of Immortal Legacy, celebrating his father’s influence on the sport, and has also moved into sports leadership as chairman of Dorking Wanderers Women’s FC.
Alongside his work in football, Calum is widely recognised for his charity efforts. A patron of NACOA (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics), he has used his platform to raise awareness through campaigns such as Chasing Yesterday, supporting children living in alcoholic households. More recently, his fundraising work has expanded into cancer awareness following his mother’s diagnosis.
Calum will join supporters and special guests at the prestigious venue, contributing to what promises to be a memorable evening celebrating Newport County’s heritage.
A number of club legends will be honoured on the night, including:
- Allen Wood | Made 183 appearances between 1966 and the early 1970s before moving into coaching, where he later worked with Michael Flynn.
- John Aldridge | Scored 14 goals in his first season after joining in 1979, helping secure promotion and Welsh Cup success before going on to achieve major honours with Liverpool.
