Despite the 2-2 draw in yesterday’s game against Bath City, Halpin managed to get his first senior goal in which he was ecstatic.
“It felt absolutely brilliant. I’ve been in this club for ten years, so it genuinely felt like a dream come true when the ball went into the back of the net.
“It genuinely felt like I was dreaming, it felt so good.”
Halpin believed that County played well in parts but felt as if they should have won the game.
“I thought it was a really good game. I thought we were really good in parts, especially the first half.
“I thought we pushed through the second half. I thought it was a good game, we battled well.
“We should have won the game but I thought we done really well.”
During County’s pre-season campaign, Halpin, alongside other academy prospects have had the opportunity to train with the first team with the experience being valuable to the youngsters.
“We’ve been working really hard, you know, these past few years and at the moment its paying off and doing very well.
“It’s good to be in and around the first team and I'm learning so much.”
The defender also believes it's been a good experience to be on the pitch and be in a professional mindset.
“It’s really good. It’s a good experience, especially as low down as here today.
“So playing in front of the fans as well, just getting used to men’s football. It’s good being in and around it.”
