Newport County are held to a 2-2 draw against Bath City after goals from Ged Garner and Harrison Halpin.
Speaking after the match, Todd gave his analysis on the game after a tough fought 2-2 draw.
“It’s about the minutes for the boys. There’re a lot of lads that needed game time. They got that today, which was good.
“So, yeah, lots of things to think about. But, yeah, listen, it was a good run out for us and 2-2, it is what it is.”
After a positive last game against Championship side Bristol City a different test was set out for the Exiles against Southern League Premier South side Bath City.
“There are times we've got to score a few more, of course, a bit more clinical. Disappointed with the two goals (conceded).
“We're way too deep as a team. I think we just tired towards the end.
“(Speaking on the second goal) We don't deal with that or it's offside, I think. And the boys are all saying it's offside. But I said to them, just deal with it, organise it.
“Don't rely on the linesman because, obviously, he's got it wrong. But that's football, that happens”
Harrison Halpin was a standout in the fixture scoring his first senior goal as Todd spoke about the importance of the academy and their involvement in these pre-season matches.
“These games, for us, it's great because you can have a look at those lads. We've had a look at a few other lads who needed the minutes, as I said.
“He's got a goal, which is great for the kid. There's nothing better than playing with the first team boys and getting a goal. And he done well. He done well again, to be fair to the kid.
“And he's got an opportunity to train with the first team, and he's had a bit of minutes today and he's done well, which is great for him and his development. So, yeah, that was nice.”
Next up is League One side Reading as Todd reveals his excitement for the next upcoming match.
“It's a great fixture for everybody, the club. It's a tough one. It's good for our boys to see where they are, like we did against Bristol City, no different.
“Then we've got Yeovil, another tough game. And then, you know, we're obviously coming down to the last couple, which is obviously the Roma game, which is an entertaining one, obviously, for everybody.
“It's about us making sure that we're ready as a group, the players are ready, they're getting their fitness in, and they're up to speed.
“So, when it comes to that first game, when we're away in the Cup, we've got to be ready for that. And they've got to be at full speed, full throttle, ready to go and try and win that game.”
