Hayden Mullins spoke to the press following an impressive 2-1 defeat against Grimsby Town.
“It was a tough one. I think what we wanted to do in the first half, they made it really tough for us.
“We still carved out a couple of chances, as they did. But you know, we had a chat at halftime, and we tweaked a few things.
“I felt really comfortable in the second half. We looked strong in our shape, and we also looked strong on the counterattack.”
Mullins also spoke about Shaquille Gwengwe and how great it is to have him around despite his international call-up.
“If we lost him and Tan (Nyakuhwa) it would have been a little bit of a blow for us.
“But Shaq was always pencilled in to play today, and he’s just a threat in front of goal.
“I think he sniffs out those chances really well. He’s got a lot to learn, obviously, and he’s got loads to add to his game, but he is a natural striker.”
Aaron Lewis also featured today on his return to County, with the manager pleased to have him in the squad.
“Aaron’s been training with us for the last two weeks, so it’s pleasing to get something sorted.
“We wanted to get him on the pitch today just to get him in the group. I think he came on and added to us and helped us.
“His experience will be really key for what we need going forward.”
Mullins also gave an injury update on the current squad.
“Jake (Turner) in the Swindon gam, he came out spreading, he spread himself in front of the attacker, but he kind of jarred his shoulder.
“He’s gone for a scan, and I think there’s a little bit of an issue there with his shoulder.”
