Lee Jenkins arrives at Rodney Parade

Newport County has secured the signing of Wales C international Lee Jenkins from Haverfordwest County, subject the EFL approval.

Having made over 200 appearances in the Cymru Premier by the age of 23, the central defender is highly rated and was recently named in the league’s team of the season.

Having come through the youth ranks at Aberystwyth, Jenkins went on to make 70 senior appearances by the age of 20. He took his total appearances to 103 before making the switch to the Bluebirds in the summer of 2022.

While at the Ogi Bridge Meadow, he helped Tony Pennock’s side secure European football and scored an 89th minute equaliser against KF Shkendija of North Macedonia at Cardiff City Stadium in the EUFA Europa Conference League qualifier, with Haverfordwest going on to win the tie-on penalties.

He missed just one game from 32 last season through suspension to play a major role in securing European football again for Haverfordwest.

His performances earned him a second call-up to the Cymru C squad for the game against England C in Llanelli last season, where he played the full 90 minutes to secure a clean sheet and a 1-0 win.

Jenkins will team up again with former Haverfordwest midfielder Kai Whitmore at Rodney Parade.
