Former Newport County captain and club ambassador Mark O’Brien has issued a rallying call to the Amber Army ahead of the run-in, urging supporters to get fully behind the team at Rodney Parade.
O’Brien, a key figure during his time at the club, knows the impact the fans can have and believes their backing can play a huge role in the weeks ahead.
“My message to the fans would be, every game we play needs 100% backing,” he said. “Put opinions to the side of players, selection and formation, and make as much noise from minute one until the final minute. Push the group and the club over the line with nothing but unconditional support.
“It’s time to believe our fans are the 12th and 13th man. Make Rodney what we’ve always known it to be. It’s in our hands and belief from when I played in that season is all we had to work with, and with belief anything is possible. The players need to feel that.
“So bring the noise, the passion, the support like no other which I know the fans can. Their support matters. Forget about how the season has been.
“Forget what’s happening off the field. With each game, give every bit of noise you’ve got and let’s all together get this over the line.”
With a crucial period ahead, the message is clear: togetherness, belief and a strong Rodney Parade atmosphere can make the difference for Newport County.
