Newport County return to Rodney Parade this Saturday (26th September) as the Exiles take on Grimsby Town.
Newport will be looking to continue their winning form after beating Swindon Town 2-0 in the Jersey Mike’s Subs Trophy on Tuesday.

The Opposition
The Mariners finished seventh last season, securing a playoff position, but could not make it to Wembley as they were eliminated by Salford City.
Grimsby also had a very successful FA Cup run as they made it to the fourth round before being knocked out by Wolves.
The Mariners also made it to the fourth round of the EFL Cup after beating Manchester United on penalties but suffered a 5-0 defeat to Brentford.
This season, Grimsby sit in third, two points behind first-place Barnet whilst being unbeaten in the league.
The History
In 1878, Grimsby Town was founded by players of Worsley Cricket Club.
It was 21 years after the formation of the club that the Mariners moved into their current home, Blundell Park.
Grimsby won their first title two years after finding their home when they won the Football League Second Division. This meant that Grimsby would play top-flight football, where they remained for two seasons.
The Mariners did manage to make their way back to Division One numerous times, with their highest-ever finish coming in 1935, when they finished fifth.
Around this time, Grimsby also made two FA Cup semi-finals, where they missed out on making the final, losing to Wolves and Arsenal.
However, the Mariners would fall down the leagues and would eventually make it out of the Division Three North, winning the title in 1956.
Further success would come years later, as Grimsby would win the Division Four title in 1972 and would eventually make their way to Division One in 1998.
However, once again, Grimsby would fall down the leagues and would drop into the National League in 2010, where they remained for six seasons before earning promotion.
Despite suffering another relegation to non-league football, Grimsby would find their way back to the Football League in 2021, where they have since remained and have beaten English giants such as Manchester United.
The Manager
The current manager of Grimsby Town is former Gibraltar international David Artell.
Artell has managed Grimsby since 2024, as well as managing Crewe Alexandra for five years.
The current Grimsby manager won 100 games whilst managing Crewe as well as earning them promotion to League One in 2020.
Artell has also won League Two Manager of the Year during his promotion-winning season.
Ones To Watch
Kieran Green has been in top form since starting the season, as he has scored three goals and provided two assists in seven League Two games. Green has contributed to a goal in his last five matches and is showing no signs of slowing down as he aims to beat his tally of 14 league goals from the previous season.
Christy Pym will also be looking to prevent any goals from going into his net as he looks to add to his clean sheet tally for the season. Pym has already managed to keep three clean sheets in five games, as well as only conceding four goals in the league.
