Newport County secured all three points and maintained their unbeaten home record at Rodney Parade with a 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town.
Christian Doidge opened the scoring with his second goal in County colours before Shaquille Gwengwe added his fifth league goal of the campaign with a close-range header.
The Exiles were forced to withstand late pressure after the visitors pulled one back, but Hayden Mullins' side defended resolutely to secure another home victory.
Aaron Lewis made his homecoming debut for County and played a crucial role in seeing the game out in the closing stages.
The Exiles looked to make a bright start, with Jordan Wright delivering a dangerous cross towards the far side, but Matty Jacob was unable to meet it.
Moments later, Harrison Biggins showed impressive trickery in the middle of the park, beating his man and creating an opening before the ball was eventually played out for a throw-in.
County continued to threaten, with Lee Jenkins doing brilliantly to win possession. The ball fell to Cameron Norman, who looked to pick out Michael Adu-Poku with a ball over the top. Adu-Poku reached it and attempted to pick out a teammate across goal, but the visitors managed to intercept and clear.
Adu-Poku continued to cause problems down the right with his pace and agility, delivering another dangerous cross into the area. Doidge rose to meet it but was unable to generate enough power on his header to trouble the goalkeeper.
The visitors threatened through Charles Vernam, but Matt Dibley-Dias applied pressure at the crucial moment to prevent the forward from getting a clean effort away from close range.
County showed their attacking intent once again as a dangerous ball over the top found Adu-Poku. The forward managed to send the ball back into the area, but a defender intercepted and diverted it behind for a corner, despite appeals from the Exiles for a penalty.
Adu-Poku then tried his luck from distance, curling an effort towards goal, but it sailed over the crossbar.
County returned from the break on the front foot, with Dibley-Dias getting onto a loose ball just outside the box before seeing his volley blocked. Another dangerous delivery was then sent into the area, but nobody was able to get on the end of it.
The Exiles eventually broke the deadlock after Biggins won possession in the middle of the park before playing Doidge through on goal. The forward made no mistake, drilling a low effort into the bottom-left corner to give County the lead.
The hosts continued to build momentum after taking the advantage, creating a number of chances and winning several corners as they looked to double their lead.
County eventually found their second through Gwengwe, who marked his fifth league goal of the campaign. A corner was delivered into the area and fell awkwardly to Ciaran Brennan, who did brilliantly to keep the ball alive and send it back into the danger zone.
Gwengwe was on hand to meet the delivery, rising highest to head home and double the Exiles' advantage.
Biggins came inches away from adding a third as another dangerous ball was played into the area. Pym produced an outstanding save to deny his effort, with the ball falling to Doidge, whose follow-up effort was caught awkwardly and narrowly cleared the crossbar.
The visitors managed to pull a goal back when an effort aimed towards Jordan Wright was poorly dealt with, allowing the ball to squeeze through the goalkeeper's legs and reduce the deficit.
Joe Thomas was then called into action, showing great determination to win the ball back after being stopped by the full-back and regain possession for the Exiles.
In the closing stages, the Mariners applied significant pressure as they searched for an equaliser, but County defended resolutely, making crucial blocks and interceptions to protect their lead.
The Exiles held on to secure a deserved three points and extend their unbeaten run at Rodney Parade.
