State of Play

Christian Fuchs' team secured a valuable first ever draw at Fleetwood Town on the weekend, one which reduced the gap to two points behind teams above them.

Backed on by 131 away fans, County dug in during a sunny day on the Fylde Coast to heap pressure on the likes of Harrogate Town and Barrow.

There was also a return for Matt Smith, back in the squad for the first time since January.

With four home games on the horizon in March, Newport will look to claim maximum points from their upcoming fixtures.

Our Opponents

Tranmere are now in their sixth consecutive season in League Two, and are still glancing over their shoulder at the relegation places.

Despite sitting in 19th, Rovers could find themselves as few as five points above the bottom two.

Their 2026 form has dramatically stalled, with Andy Crosby's team losing nine of their 11 games this calendar year.

The only two teams they have beaten this year - Harrogate and Crawley - occupy the bottom four in the division.

Head-to-Heads

This will be the 39th time Newport and Tranmere have played one another, and there has been little to pick between them historically.

Tranmere have the upper hand, winning 16 games against their opponents compared to Newport's 14, with 8 draws since their first meeting in 1959.

However, Newport have been unsuccessful in their past five games against Rovers, losing four of them. They have not beaten Tranmere since March 2023, when they picked up a 3-1 victory at Prenton Park.

The last time they beat the Merseysiders at Rodney Parade was back in August 2022, then under the management of James Rowberry.
