This week’s featured artists:

Danny Mellin – Tagliatelle
An emerging name on the UK alternative and indie rock scene, Oxfordshire-based Danny Mellin is known for his upbeat, hook-heavy sound. Drawing inspiration from 60s pop, Britpop and modern British indie, his music pairs relatable storytelling with energetic, guitar-led arrangements. Danny has built strong momentum in recent years, completing multiple UK headline tours with sold-out shows, supporting acts such as Sundara Karma and The Sherlocks, and taking his music across Europe for the first time. His live shows are packed with infectious energy and a stage presence that forges an instant connection with audiences.

Midnight Rodeo – El Medina
Midnight Rodeo are a Nottingham-based psychedelic art-pop and indie collective, recognised for their vibrant, groove-driven sound and captivating live performances. Formed through the city’s thriving live circuit, the band gained wider attention following a run of acclaimed singles released via Brighton’s FatCat Records after signing in 2022. Their music blends driving rhythms, jangly guitars, swirling synths and booming organs, all centred around the ethereal vocals of frontwoman Maddy Chamberlain. With influences spanning psych-pop, garage rock, krautrock and Latin rhythms, Midnight Rodeo deliver a sound that is hypnotic, chaotic and full of character.

Half Happy – Bloom
Cardiff-based indie and dream-pop quartet Half Happy bring a lush, melody-rich sound that mixes dream pop, indie rock and post-punk influences. Formed in late 2022 as a lockdown living-room project, the band quickly evolved into a full lineup featuring Rosalie Miller on vocals, alongside Zac Noneley, Pete Smith and Jon Wilson. Their music is defined by dreamy vocal lines, jangly guitars and tight rhythms, paired with introspective lyrics that balance bittersweet emotion with uplifting indie energy. Early releases such as Lovesweep and Steal Me Away helped establish their place in the UK indie scene, and they are set to play at Newport’s own Le Pub this Thursday as part of the Horizons and Beacon Cymru event.

Settle in, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy a playlist built around love in all its forms.
