With the end of summer almost upon us, this edition of the Matchday Playlist celebrates some seasonal bangers as we welcome Salford City to Rodney Parade. Expect stadium anthems from the likes of Rancid, Kasabian, Cast, Blur, Tame Impala, Empire Of The Sun, Jungle, Coldplay, Avicii and more.
This game’s featured artists:
There is no I in teams – Keys
If the term cult hero were to be given to a band it would be Keys. After releasing their first music back in 2002, the band recently returned with their sixth album Acid Communism, their boldest and most expansive record to date. Frontman Matt Evans explains that this track is a commentary on the digital age’s erosion of human connection, with real emotional depth often reduced to “pixels on a screen.”
Axiom – The IDK’s
A four-piece indie/alternative rock band from Essex, The IDK’s are no strangers to County fans, with their previous release Never Listen getting a spin at last season’s game against Morecambe. Their new single Axiom is about finding belief when you are at your lowest and has already passed 10,000 streams on Spotify. With a punchy fusion of indie, alternative, and classic rock, their sound is raw, energetic, and grounded firmly in today’s scene.
Hold On – Cruz
Forged in Sheffield, Cruz are an indie-rock quartet known for their memorable lyrics and catchy riffs. Drawing on influences from Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and Courteeners, as well as modern acts like DMA’s and Sam Fender, their music balances driving guitar hooks with emotionally charged vocals. Hold On captures the struggle of keeping a connection alive when everything suggests it is slipping away.
