Newport County is delighted to announce the signing of defender Matty Jacob on a short-term loan from Hull City.
The twenty-five-year-old left-back joins County with experience in the Championship and League One, having made senior appearances for Hull City and enjoyed previous loan spells with Gateshead and Reading.
Jacob came through the Hull City academy and has remained with the club since joining at under-nine level. A left-footed full-back, he is known for his athleticism, technical ability and range of passing.
The defender spent the first half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan with Reading, making 16 appearances across league and cup competitions before an injury brought his spell to an early end.
Jacob now joins Hayden Mullins' squad for the short term and will provide further competition and depth at full-back as County continue their 2026-27 League Two campaign.
