As we take the long trip to Barrow this Saturday, let’s take a look at players who have shared the shirt between Newport County and the Bluebirds.

 

Offrande Zanzala

Offrande Zanzala, who currently plays for Marine FC, has played for a fair share of clubs, including Newport and Barrow.

Zanzala first played for Barrow, joining from Carlisle United in the summer of 2021. During his time at the Bluebirds, Zanzala featured in 27 matches where he scored five goals and two assists. The attacker also made it to the third round of the FA Cup beating Banbury and Ipswich Town before suffering a 5-4 defeat to Barnsley.

However, after two seasons at Barrow, Zanzala arrived in South Wales where he would remain for two years. During his time at the Exiles the forward played 34 matches as he suffered injuries whilst playing at the club. Zanzala did contribute offensively as he scored six goals and provided two assists.

 

Dom Telford

Dom Telford who was top scorer in League Two during his period at Newport also played for Barrow after his successful stint in Wales.

Telford joined County from Plymouth Argyle halfway through the 2020/21 season but made his impact in his first full season at the club as he scored 25 goals in 37 matches during the 2021/22 season. The Englishman helped Newport reached 11th place as he had the best season of his career.

Although, after his phenomenal season, Telford left Newport and joined Crawley Town. However, after two seasons in London he would find himself at Barrow. Throughout playing two seasons up north, Telford played in 64 matches and scored six goals. Furthermore, the striker made it to the third round of the FA Cup and played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge but ultimately lost 5-0.

 

Kyle Cameron

Kyle Cameron is currently fingertips away from winning the League Two title with Bromley but has played for both the Exiles and the Bluebirds before his success.

Cameron played for Newport for the first half of the 2016/17 season from Newcastle U23. The defender only featured in eight matches for the Welsh side as he suffered injuries but helped Newport to wins in the league and FA Cup.

However, nine years after initially playing for Newport, Cameron joined Barrow on loan from Notts County where he stayed for the second half of the 2024/25 season. The defender featured in 17 matches and scored his only goal in a 2-1 win against MK Dons.
