Exiles’ fans will get the chance to meet new manager Dave Hughes and the squad after Saturday’s opening League Two encounter with Notts County at Rodney Parade (3pm).
Hughes and the rest of the team will be joining hospitality guests in Club Amber (former Bisley Lounge) after the game for photographs, autographs and to discuss the result. We introduced the squad visits last season – and they were a massive hit with guests.
Former Swindon, Notts County and Swansea City manager Luke Williams has also agreed to be our special guest before kick-off.
He’ll be joined by BBC Wales presenter Rob Phillips and club ambassador Mark O’Brien.
Luke, who actually lives in Newport, will be able to stroll to Rodney Parade to chat about his career to date.
Born in London, Williams played youth football at Norwich City and Bristol Rovers only to suffer a serious injury at 19 which ended his hopes of a professional career.
Instead, he took up coaching from an early age at Leyton Orient, West Ham and several years with Brighton Under-21s.
He made his first-team managerial debut with Swindon Town in 2015. Then after coaching Bristol City’s Under-23s, he became assistant coach to Russell Martin at MK Dons in 2019 and Swansea City in 2021.
Williams was appointed head coach of Notts County in 2022, leading them back to the Football League in his first season and breaking several club records, including the most wins and points in a season. In 2024, he returned to Swansea City as head coach until February 2025.
