Newport County are delighted to confirm the loan signing of central midfielder Ben Lloyd from Swansea City until January 2026.
The highly rated 20-year-old joins the Exiles on loan from the Championship club and becomes the latest addition to David Hughes’ squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Lloyd has been a standout talent in the Swans' academy and recently committed his future to the club by signing a new contract through June 2026, highlighting the high regard in which he is held in South Wales.
The Swansea youngster has been with the Newport County squad over the last couple of weeks as a trialist, and hast featured in some of our pre-season games.
Speaking after completing the loan move, Ben said “It’s a great feeling to get the deal over the line. Ever since I’ve arrived, everything has been so positive with the gaffer and the boys. I feel like I’ve settled in really quickly and I can’t wait for the season to start. I’ve gelled with the boys really quickly and it feels like I’ve been here for a couple of years already.”
Manager David Hughes added, “I’m really pleased to have Ben on board with us. He’ll bring us good balance in midfield. He’s versatile so he can play further forward and in the pockets. He’s a super professional, a good character and I'm really pleased to add him into our squad. He’s a humble, hungry, energetic individual who’s desperate to make the best of himself.”
