Newport County face their second fixture of the double game week as the Exiles travel away from home to take on Northampton Town.
County will look to return to winning ways following their late 2-1 defeat against Salford City on Tuesday night.
Newport's last outing against Northampton ended in a 3-0 win with Omar Bogle grabbing a brace as well as Charlie McNeil scoring late on.
The Opposition
Northampton finished bottom of League One last season as they recorded 35 points as the Cobblers were unable to climb out of relegation despite a late managerial change.
It didn't get much better for Northampton as they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round by Oldham Athletic following a 3-1 defeat away from home.
The EFL Cup also saw a first-round loss with Southampton's Mateus Fernandes scoring the only goal of the match to see Northampton lose 1-0.
So far this season, the Cobblers have registered three points in four games as they drew against Swindon Town, Gillingham and Crawley Town whilst losing to Crewe Alexandra.
The History
Northampton Town were founded on the 6th March 1907 by a group of local school teachers.
The Cobblers would begin in the Northants League and after winning the league in their second season would move to the Midland League and then the Southern League.
1920 saw Northampton join the Football League with many experiences coming the club's way as they became a public company.
However, the 1930's saw great success as they reached the fifth round of the FA Cup, defeating Division One side Huddersfield Town in the previous round. However, the Cobblers would suffer a 4-0 defeat to Preston North End.
Northampton saw a historic rise after the Second World War as between the years 1960-1965 the Cobblers earned three promotions in five years to reach the First Division.
Their stay in the First Division only lasted one season with the Cobblers facing back-to-back-to-back relegations.
Following their relegation back to Division Four they struggled for many years with financial problems kicking in throughout the 1990s.
However, Northampton would move to Sixfields Stadium in 1992 and would also face Swansea City at Wembley to earn promotion.
As of recent Northampton would fluctuate between League Two and League One for many years as they have most recently been relegated back to League Two after finishing bottom of the league.
The Manager
Chris Hogg is the current Northampton manager following his appointment in May.
Despite the Cobbler's being Hogg's first managerial job, the Englishman has had years of experience coaching alongside Liam Manning.
Teams that Hogg has held an assistant head coach role include MK Dons, Oxford United, Bristol City and Norwich City.
Hogg has also held roles at academy level with Newcastle United and Ipswich Town.
So far, the Englishman has yet to manage a competitive win as he has drawn three and lost three of his six games managed.
Ones To Watch
Nathaniel Opoku was Newport County's top goalscorer last season and has already begun to create an impact at the Cobbler's scoring in their most recent fixture against Crawley. The striker will be looking to continue where he left off and will be aiming to beat his goalscoring tally from the previous campaign.
Another player to look out for is Logan Briggs. Briggs was one of Leicester City's U21's best players last season scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 32 games. The winger has already scored one goal this season and will be looking to provide more for his team as they seek for their first win.
