Doidhe

Newport County is delighted to confirm the signing of striker Christian Doidge.

The experienced forward arrives at Rodney Parade following an accomplished career that has seen him score goals across the EFL, Scottish Premiership and National League, bringing a wealth of experience and proven quality to the squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Born in Newport, Doidge returns to his home city having established himself as one of the most recognisable Welsh forwards outside the top flight over the past decade.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed successful spells with Forest Green Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Hibernian and Tranmere Rovers, building a reputation as a hard-working striker with an eye for goal and a strong all-round game.

Among the highlights of his career was helping Forest Green Rovers secure promotion to the Football League at Wembley Stadium in 2017, while he also enjoyed a prolific spell in Scotland with Hibernian, where he scored regularly in both league and cup competitions.

Doidge's journey through the game has been one of determination and perseverance, progressing from Welsh football to establish himself across the professional ranks and becoming a consistent goalscorer wherever he has played.

Now returning to South Wales, he joins Newport County with significant experience and leadership qualities as the club continues preparations for the new campaign.

Everyone at Newport County would like to welcome Christian to the club and wishes him every success in amber.
