Newport County face MK Dons this Saturday at stadium MK so let’s take a look at some past Newport County players who have shared the shirt between the Exiles and the Dons.
Scott Twine
Scott Twine who is now a key player for Bristol City has featured for both Newport and MK Dons early on in his career. The Englishman first joined Newport from Swindon on loan where he featured in 24 games scoring seven times. However, the then 21-year-old returned to his parent club in January where he became a regular starter for the then League One side.
This level of performance then earned him a move to MK Dons where he continued to shine showing his true potential. Twine would go on to win the League One player of the year award where he would later be sold to Burnley.
Cameron Norman
Cameron Norman joined Newport from Walsall in 2021 where he spent the next two years of his career in the Welsh city. The fullback featured in every league game across the two seasons he spent at the club as well as also featuring 100 times for the Exiles. The fullback was not just a threat defensively but was also an attacking threat recording six goals for the club across the two seasons he was there as they attempted to push towards playoffs.
However, at the end of the 2022/23 season, Norman was picked up by MK Dons where he spent a season with the club appearing in 43 matches with one of these being a league two playoff match against Crawley.
The fullback has also played for Walsall and Tranmere where he has linked up with former Newport player James Clarke and Declan Drysdale.
Aaron Collins
Aaron Collins developed in the Newport academy and made his football league debut with the club in April 2015 where he featured as a second half substitute against Dagenham and Redbridge. The Newport born attacker first scored for the Exiles in the 2015/16 season in a 2-2 draw against Stevenage.
The highly rated youngster was eventually signed by Wolves but faced many loan moves to Notts County, Tranmere Rovers and Maidstone united until he eventually returned back to Newport on loan for six months in the 2017/18 season where he featured ten times until returning back to his parent club.
However, after impressive seasons at Bristol Rovers where he won League One player of the year as well as being the top goalscorer in the EFL trophy at Bolton last season, he switched from the north to the south to join MK Dons where so far this season he has played 19 games in which he played a whole 90 minutes in the Dons most recent fixture against Oldham Athletic.
