Newport County forward Yahya Bamba says he is delighted to join the club and is eager to showcase his pace and direct style after completing his move to Rodney Parade.
The attacker arrives from Forest Green Rovers and adds versatility across the front line ahead of the 2026-27 Sky Bet League Two season, with a reputation for quick, direct running and the ability to take on defenders in one v one situations.
Speaking in his first interview as a Newport County player, Bamba said he is excited to get started in South Wales and can’t wait to play at Rodney Parade.
“Yeah, I’m very delighted to be here. Can’t wait to go play at Rodney Parade and showcase what I’m about.”
Able to operate across the front three, Bamba is expected to give the squad added attacking options and depth in forward areas, with his game built around pace and direct attacking play.
Describing his style, the 27-year-old said he aims to excite supporters and bring energy in the final third.
“I’m a very direct player. I love one v one situations, very pacey, and I like to get fans off their seats.”
Bamba is also stepping into League Two for the first time in his career and says he is ready to embrace the challenge of a new division.
“It’s a new adventure for me. I’ve never played in League Two before, so I’m ready to showcase what I’m about and help the team progress.”
The forward also pointed to Newport County’s recent history and the club’s connection with supporters as key reasons behind his decision to join, referencing the atmosphere around Rodney Parade and the ambition shown in recent seasons.
“I’ve seen the historic cup runs, and the way the supporters and the management have uplifted the club. I would like to be part of that.”
With the new campaign approaching, Bamba says his focus is on working hard, settling in quickly and giving everything for the team.
Newport County manager Christian Fuchs adds another attacking option to his squad as preparations continue for the new season.
Bamba also had a message for the Amber Army as he looks forward to meeting the supporters for the first time.
“Amber Army, can’t wait to get playing in front of you and showcase what I’m about.”
