Defender Jaden Warner is looking forward to hitting the ground running after joining Newport County on a permanent deal from Norwich City.
The 22-year-old has signed an 18-month contract with the Exiles, subject to international clearance and EFL approval.
His arrival will provide a boost to Nelson Jardim’s defensive options as County look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
Warner made his senior debut for Norwich in the 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to Premier League side Fulham in September 2023. He followed that up with a Championship appearance in a 3-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers two months later.
Now, the central defender is eager to make an impact at Newport and help drive the team forward.
“I’m very pleased to get the deal done,” he said.
“There was a lot of interest, but as soon as I had the phone call from Newport County, it was a no brainer for me.
“I’m at a stage in my career now where playing regularly is crucial. Every week counts, so Newport is the perfect place for me to push on and get that consistent game time.
"I’d say I’m aggressive, composed on the ball, and I love winning my battles. I’ve always had that determination to fight for every ball and get stuck in.
“I can’t wait to get started at the club now.”
Warner spent part of last season on loan at League Two side Notts County in their bid for a play-off place.
At Meadow Lane, the central defender made 10 first team appearances and hopes his previous experience in the division will stand him in good stead.
“It’s always valuable to play in the league,” he added.
“I’ve been around the game a while now, having been at Norwich and playing in various setups, so I know what it takes. I’ve got that experience behind me, and I know what needs to be done.
“I’m just really looking forward to meeting the lads and playing in front of the fans. The goal now is to focus on winning these next few games and finishing the season strong.
“That’s what we’re all aiming for.”
