Ahead of Newport County’s clash with Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon, we take a trip down memory lane to relive past Exiles victories against the Robins in years gone by.
Newport County 1-0 Cheltenham Town (September 12, 2017)

Padraig Amond's first-half strike proved to be the difference as Newport County edged past Cheltenham to move into the League Two play-off places.
Amond, who had joined from Hartlepool United in the summer, was in the right place at the right time to pounce when Matty Dolan's corner was flicked into his path. The Irish striker fired home, giving Newport the lead.
Cheltenham pushed for an equaliser and came close when Kyle Storer's header was cleared off the line with Joe Day beaten. The Robins kept coming in search of the leveller, but Newport's keeper Day came up big, making a crucial save in injury time to deny Storer once again. With Amond's goal proving enough, Newport secured the hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Cheltenham Town 4-7 Newport County (November 12, 2019)

In an absolute thriller, Newport and Cheltenham played out one of the wildest matches in recent memory.
The game featured 11 goals, starting with Taylor Maloney’s early opener in the seventh minute after a mistake from Cheltenham keeper Rhys Lovett. Max Sheaf equalised soon after for the hosts, but Newport quickly regained control with Matty Dolan’s penalty.
Then came a flurry of goals, with Tristan Abrahams grabbing a brace before halftime, followed by strikes from Alex Addai and Sean Long pulling Cheltenham level. The first half ended 5-3 in Newport's favour, with Maloney completing his hat-trick early in the second half with a stunning top-corner finish.
Abrahams wasn't finished either. He completed his own hat-trick with a phenomenal curling shot into the top corner. Cheltenham managed to pull one back with Ben Tozer’s header from a free-kick, but the game was beyond them as Newport ran out 7-4 victors in this goal-laden spectacle.
Newport County 1-0 Cheltenham Town (May 1, 2021)

In a crucial match for Newport, the Exiles edged past Cheltenham to keep their play-off hopes alive.
Captain Joss Labadie provided the perfect start, unleashing a brilliant strike from outside the box that found the back of the net at the near post. Cheltenham switched to a back four in the second half, but despite their efforts, they couldn't break down Newport's defence.
With the win, Newport ensured that their fate remained in their own hands as they pushed for the play-offs. Although a late goal from Exeter at Bolton meant Newport still had work to do, their victory over Cheltenham put them in prime position, knowing that a point in their next game would secure a play-off spot.
