Today, Milton Primary School were crowned South East Wales champions in the Utilita EFL Kids Cup, following a thrilling 2-0 victory over St. Joseph’s Primary in the final.
The tournament, hosted by County in the Community, showcased an incredible display of footballing talent, with 270 pupils from 30 different primary schools across the region taking part. Schools travelled from across South East Wales, including Nantyglo and Abergavenny, to compete for the chance to represent Newport County AFC at the regional finals after Christmas.
Following the final whistle, County defender Liam Shephard was on hand to present medals and the winners’ trophy to the players, congratulating both teams for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the day.
A huge thank you also goes to our college programme students for officiating the matches, and to all the schools, teachers, and supporters who made this year’s competition such a success.
Reflecting on the event, Club Ambassador Mark O’Brien said: “It’s fantastic to see so many young players enjoying competitive football and representing their schools with such pride. The Kids Cup is a brilliant initiative that gives pupils a real taste of the game’s values: teamwork, respect, and enjoyment. Congratulations to Milton Primary, and best of luck at the next stage.”
County in the Community would like to congratulate Milton Primary once again on becoming South East Wales champions and wish them all the best as they go on to represent Newport County in the regional finals.
