Newport County would like to congratulate Norman Parselle on his award of the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s Birthday Honours list for his outstanding service to sport and the local community.
Norman has led the club’s County in the Community charity since its inception in 2013 and is currently its chief executive.
Born and bred in Pill, the former player has been involved with the club for over 30 years and inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
Having started with just a bag of footballs and a second-hand laptop, Norman has built the department into a multi-million-pound community operation with a dedicated staff of over 20 people.

Delivering sporting projects and schemes for everyone in Newport, Monmouthshire and Torfaen, Norman has worked tirelessly to deliver and increase sports participation, improve health and education, social inclusion and the environment.
His work makes a huge difference to the local community, and he is regarded by the club and those in the community he serves as a tremendous ambassador for the football club.
So much so, the EFL recently announced via their Impact of Clubs in the Community report that the club’s social value for season 2023/24 amounted to a staggering £3.7m.
The football club is immensely proud to have Norman as it’s community figurehead and recognises that his charity work has improved the lives of thousands of people in the local community.
If anyone deserves recognition for his tireless and selfless work in the community then it is Norman Parselle.
